Living on a single string, a photo by Emad Islam on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
‘Ektara’ is a one-string instrument most often used in traditional music from Bangladesh. In Pohela Boishak we usually see this instrument everywhere… It is one of the traditional intruments of Bengali culture…

This guy came from Kustia to sell his items… he had some good quality Ektaras and DugDugi… Had a little chat with him… He was quite entertaining… His business is this instruments… And in this time of the year he earns most…

  1. I’ve never heard of this instrument. How is it played? What a great photo.
